Texas. Everything can kill you in Texas. The dusty unforgiving landscape says it all about the Lone Star State. A seemingly never ending wasteland of horns, barbs, fangs, and stingers. The ground is a six inch layer of infertile sand and dirt covered with rattle snakes, venomous spiders, and other belly crawlers. Just below in the hard and rocky soil lives a sea of fire ants that have been know to take down and devour a 1500 pound steer. Every Texan knows the sting of those little fuckers. Armadillos, horned toads what the fuck is that? The very few plants and cactus have thorns and needles as sharp as swords. A foot below the surface is solid limestone. Below that an ocean of black oil. Long, long ago Texas was the bottom of the ancient Permian Sea never intended to host life on its surface. At night, as they say, the stars are bright. You can hear yipping coyotes and the sonar chirping of the millions of bats in the sky. The days are be unbelievably hot. Truly a reptile paradise.
From this comes a unique style of heavy music. Heavy is king in Texas. Psych, Metal, Stoner, Doom bands are everywhere. Texas is HUGE in size with some giant cities as well Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, and a lot of smaller towns as well that all have their own heavy music scene. Giving us a really cool mix of sounds and bands keeping the sound of heavy Texas music ever changing and growing. Live music is everywhere and with tons of music venues you can go see something heavy and killer every night in towns like Austin. Always great new bands carrying the torch playing the same bill with heavy bands that have been around Texas 20 years or more. Home to a ton of killer musicians makes it a great place to be.
