Lithuanian four-piece dark post-metal band Aortes share a music video for Nirvana cover »Something In The Way«!
Vilnius, Lithuania based four-piece dark post-metal band Aortes has released a music video for Nirvana cover »Something In The Way«. This is the third and final single from their upcoming album, »Devouring Gloom«, set to release on February 28th, 2023.
Says the band: “So, as some of you noticed – we had a familiar song title in the track list of our upcoming album. Yeah, we really did a cover or Nirvana’s »Something In The Way«. A tribute to our teenage years, flannel shirts and grunge. The goal was to stay as true to the original track as possible, but also add our own twist. Enjoy.
»Devouring Gloom« comes out on 28th of February 2023 in limited edition 12″ vinyl. Pre-orders available now via our Bandcamp.”

Aortes is a dark and chaotic post-metal band from Vilnius, Lithuania.
“We are really excited to finally put out a new album. It has been quite a rough time for the band: the lineup has changed which led to the change of the sound of the band, which led to the change of the band name completely. The pandemic took over the world and put all of our plans in slow motion. At times it felt like it had been one step forward and two steps back, so it took us almost four years to make »Devouring Gloom«. But it is finally finished and it seems that with this release we have finally managed to properly channel our creative vision. This darker, more dissonant and chaotic sound felt like a natural evolution of Aortes.

The central themes of the album deal with the struggle of the overwhelming feeling of despair, hopelessness, loneliness – or as we thought of it – a gloom that surrounds and devours you. Sometimes you find the strength to fight it off, other times you admit defeat. But there is always hope.”
Aortes (previously known as Autism) started out in 2012 as an instrumental solo project of guitarist Tomhetas. »The Crawling Chaos« (2013) proved to be the start of a string of releases that showed a heavier sound, a consistent concern for storylines, and an ambitious conceptual vision.
In 2016 they became a full line-up live band and recorded »Film Noir« (2017), a dark and invasive opus dealing with alcoholism, drugs, and physical and psychological abuse. In »Have You Found Peace?« (2019), a conceptual album, the band teamed up with Krzysztof from the post-metal act ROSK who became the first vocal performer in the history of the band.
In 2021 Andrius has joined the band to take full-time vocal duties after appearing on the band’s latest single »Immersion« (2021). At the moment the band is working hard on new material which is planned to be released soon.
