Jaberdarwin announce debut LP via Subsound Records – »The Soft Collapse«.
Featuring Eraldo Bernocchi (guitar), Colin Edwin (bass), Tomas Jarmyr (drums), and Gareth Davis (bass clarinet), the London-based project gets ready to drop their debut on November 6, 2026, by Subsound Records.
Jaberdarwin brings together four musicians whose individual paths have crossed some of the more radical territories in contemporary music: Eraldo Bernocchi, from Sigillum S to Metallic Taste of Blood and Obake, with collaborations including Bill Laswell, Harold Budd, Iggor Cavalera, Merzbow and many others; Colin Edwin, known for his long-running role in Porcupine Tree and currently with O.R.k. and Voyage 35, as well as projects shared with Bernocchi; Tomas Järmyr, drummer for Motorpsycho and former member of Zu; and Gareth Davis, a bass clarinetist moving between contemporary composition, experimental music and noise, working with artists ranging from Merzbow and Oiseaux-Tempête to composers such as Bernhard Lang and Peter Ablinger.

On their debut album these backgrounds converge into a sonic landscape that resists easy classification: where the physical weight of metal meets the space of dub and ambient, the freedom of jazz, the abrasion of noise, and the vocabulary of contemporary music. Rather than seeking compromise between genres, Jaberdarwin allows these forces to collide, overlap and reshape one another. Drawing on the most incisive tenets of art-rock, »The Soft Collapse« moves between density and space, weight and silence, discipline and instability, carving out a territory that belongs entirely to the four musicians who created it. A collision of worlds that refuses to settle into a genre.
Dark, immersive and deeply physical, Jaberdarwin is less a fusion of genres than an exploration of what remains when genre boundaries disappear. An undefinable music for an undefined space.
Suspended between dreamlike guitars and psychedelic-ambient brushstrokes, »The Soft Collapse« is Jaberdarwin’s first single and the title track of their debut album. Nine minutes that begin almost in levitation: just enough time to take flight before everything plunges into an ever-shifting sonic magma, moving in a matter of moments from a krautrock bridge into a crushing wall of metal and noise. Flecks of acid blues surface here and there, almost Cooder-esque, only to be swallowed back into the flow. Cinematic, psychedelic, brutal and strangely hypnotic.
