Los Angeles, CA – In short, »What’s Real?« came about by accident. Marcos Thieriot met engineer and producer Travis Frost through mutual friends and reached out with the intention to record demos to promote live gigs. After beginning with six initial recordings under the Black Mariah name, Theriot and Frost decided to continue forward with recording a full length album. These recordings would become the debut album »What’s Real?«, an off kilter compilation of various rock genres, defined by blasting guitars, screeching vocals, and moody tones.

Originally hailing from San Francisco and now based in Ventura County, Black Mariah started as a batch of songs and demos in frontman Marcos Thieriot’s bedroom. In the last year, Black Mariah has evolved into a three-piece band, with Marcos reconnecting with bassist and childhood friend Dante Giovannelli, and Seamus McDowell joining on drums.
