It’s crazy to think The Freeks have actually been in existence since 2008 when Ruben Romano, after co-founding Fu Manchu and Nebula, compiled a handful of friends (like John McBain, Isaiah Mitchell and Scott Reeder to name a few) to pass around studio files for each to add and contribute their musical expertises. A fun project indeed, However, it wasn’t until Romano teamed up with Jonathan Hall in 2013 that The Freeks went from “fun project” to an actual solid and stable musical unit.
As time marches on, there has been several different line up changes in the band. The latest and most drastic change was Romano bouncing back from the front man with guitar position and returning to his rightful throne behind the drum set. Bringing to the band his signature swing to the rhythm section. A change that brought in new band member Jason Huebner to take the key position of front man with vocals. Believe it or not, it’s his first time joining a band! And he hit the ground running with vocal chops and charismatic good time vibes that you can’t teach! Together with Ray Piller on bass guitar since 2018 and Robert Tripp jumping into the van mid tour in 2022 with his analog synth, The Freeks are whole.

Through all these changes one thing stayed constant and that is the Romano/Hall writing team. This current and most fruitful incantation of The Freeks sees and breathes a whole new breath of freshness, a resurrection that calls back and begs for the return of a “let’s party and have a good time!” mentality.
● Ruben Romano: Drummer, creator of The Freeks and founding member of both stoner rock legends Fu Manchu & Nebula.
● Jonathan Hall: Lead guitar. The originator of LA’s smashing trio Backbiter as well as a hired gun for punk icons Angry Samoans.
● Ray Piller: On bass, a Cleveland transplant, creator of the far out Biblical Proof Of U.F.O.’s.
● Robert Tripp: Keyboard warrior, synth oscillator who spent some time touring with Arcata, CA based space rockers White Manna.
● And finally, the introduction of vocalist, for the first time ever, the Amazing Dancing Dr. Jackson Queens L.T.D. who we also some times call, Jason Huebner.
»Studio / Live II« is the latest album by The Freeks, their 5th full-length.
