Formed in Los Angeles in 2021 by guitarist Jim McCloskey, Sea Of Snakes emerged with a clear mission: to create doom metal that feels darker, more intense, and emotionally heavier, without sacrificing melody or atmosphere.
Built on sludgy, down-tuned riffs, thunderous low end and driving percussion, the band channels the spirit of classic heavy rock while injecting the restless tension of ’90s metal and grunge. Their sound carries traces of early ’70s psychedelic heaviness and Sabbath-rooted doom, yet remains grounded in their own evolving identity.
The band debuted in 2021 with the EP »World On Fire«, and after some lineup changes, the group solidified as:
Jim McCloskey – Guitar
Greg Noriega – Bass
Chris Lowbridge – Drums
Jason Busiek – Vocals

Lyrically, Sea Of Snakes explore anti-establishment defiance, skepticism toward organized religion, existential unrest, and dark fantasy as a form of escape. There is a persistent sense of looming danger in their sound, but also catharsis and confrontation.
The new single, »Behind The Mask«, represents both continuity and expansion. While rooted in crushing doom foundations, the track branches into more energetic and melodic territory, showcasing dynamic guitar work and sharpened emotional delivery.
At its core, the song challenges blind devotion to self-righteous figures who hide behind moral façades – reinforcing the band’s refusal to conform, sonically or ideologically.
With this release, Sea Of Snakes signal a band pushing forward – louder, heavier, and unapologetically uncompromising.
»Behind The Mask« serves as the first taste of the upcoming EP »Magmantus«, set for release on April 2, 2026. While rooted in crushing doom foundations, the track branches into more energetic and melodic territory, showcasing dynamic guitar work and sharpened emotional delivery.
