Mexico City – Low Flying Hawks, who recently announced their return with »Makebelieve« (Oct. 25, Sympatry Records), have shared a second single, »Suspension Of Disbelief«, and accompanying video directed by Alicia Kasai.

»Makebelieve« is the Mexico City-based band’s fourth album, and includes Dale Crover (Melvins) on drums and Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) on bass with guitarist AAL, and vocalist EHA. The band previously released the track »Out For Blood«.

“The record is about how the world changed when everyone started not believing anything and being very aggressive,” notes guitarist AAL. “Everything was peaceful, and suddenly everyone was barking back. It goes deeper too. With A.I., you just don’t know what to believe. It’s like the world was out for blood. Who did this? Why is it happening? Everything settled, and we all surrendered to the idea of being held hostage.”

The band previous released a connected trilogy of albums: »Kofuku« (2015), »Genkaku« (2017), and »FUYU« (2021), which Revolver attested, “Low Flying Hawks were never going to be a one-trick pony,” and Consequence hailed as “metallic droning bliss at its finest.” Vocalist EHA explains their approach going into the recording of »Makebelieve«: “We don’t want to give people the same thing we’ve given them for the last three albums. On »Makebelieve«, we used amps and pedals we’ve never used before. The whole idea was to make it more crushing.”

Throughout 2021 and 2022, EHA and AAL hunkered down and recorded what would become »Makebelieve«. This time around, they worked in both Mexico City and Los Angeles with producer Toshi Kasai (Melvins/Tool), experimenting with various pedals, amps, and other sounds in the process.

Album pre-orders, which include a pair of 2LP limited-edition vinyl variants, are available via Bandcamp: lowflyinghawks.bandcamp.com.
