Malta’s heavy units Lady Lizard and A Broken Design join forces for the eleventh chapter of Ripple Music’s »Turned To Stone« split EP series this December. Fuzzed-out, low-slung and built for maximum volume, »Turned To Stone: Chapter 11« provides a dense, punchy snapshot of the Mediterranean island’s riff-worshipping underground at full tilt. Sludge metal meets stoner rock charge across six tracks of pure anthemic aggression. The split album will be released in a limited LP edition and digital format on December 11th, with preorders available now from Ripple Music.

»Turned To Stone: Chapter 11«: Lady Lizard & A Broken Design
Out December 11th on Ripple Music (LP/digital)

Lady Lizard is a high-energy stoner and sludge band from the Mediterranean island of Malta, formed in the mid-2010s. They sound as if QOTSA and Bongripper got trapped on a Mediterranean holiday together: a wall of sludge, doom rock, fuzzy riffs, and lots of punk energy. They played festivals, clubs, and every nook and cranny of the island, releasing a successful EP, digital singles, and a limited cassette tape, becoming a staple of their small but active heavy scene.

A Broken Design rose from the ashes of various Maltan metal and post-grunge bands in late November 2014, aiming to bring a fresh perspective to the alternative/metal genre. Straddling metal, alternative, grunge, and good old-fashioned rock and roll, the band blends the southern, slimy groove of Down and Pantera with the broody, melancholic melodies of Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. With two EPs released and countless shows played on both local and foreign soil, A Broken Design is highly recognised for their intense live shows. Mosh, sing along—either way, you’ll leave sore or singing their hooks. In late 2026, the band will release new music under Ripple Records as part of the label’s »Turned To Stone« split EP series.
