“»Exuviae« was written at dawn, after a sleepless night where defeat felt raw and hyperreal. The summer in Scotland is strange and the sun barely sets; A soft blue glow substituting night and weighing your chest down. Through the window, I could see the sky being torn and felt myself split.
At my feet; my old self, my skin: aglow and red.”

Maud The Moth is the alter ego of Amaya López-Carromero (also part of the band Healthyliving), a Spanish-born and Scotland-based pianist, singer and songwriter with a strongly independent artistic drive. Maud The Moth serves as a séance-like conduit through which to process personal life experiences, and in particular themes of rootlessness, identity and trauma. Stylistically, Amaya uses her classical background as a platform upon which her eclectic songwriting and cathartic solo live performances rest. With the usage of live looping, she weaves sonic tapestries riddled with distorted or effected pianos and driven by an enigmatic and deeply moving voice.
Amaya’s commitment to her own personal vision has attracted performance opportunities from a wide range of promoters and artistic directors including Roadburn (NL), Primavera Sound (ES), AMFest 2022 (ES), Festival Noroeste (ES), Celtic connections (UK), Noite Branca (PT), Ronnie Scott’s (UK), Brudenell Piano Session (UK) and CCCB (ES) amongst others. Maud The Moth has also been invited to perform as guest artist by Chelsea Wolfe, Kayo Dot, Anna von Hausswolff, Hexvessel and Helen Money, amongst others.
In 2023 Maud The Moth released a collaborative album with dark-ambient duo Trajedesaliva titled »Bordando el Manto Terrestre«.
