»On The Corpses Of Giants« is a rather serendipitous piece, born from a collision between personal ambition and external circumstances.

From post-reunion Swans derivations, occult explorations and a little act of sonic vandalism at its heart – an appropriation of a well-known pop chorus that I’ve disassembled and worked to invert its essence – the music attempts to be an homage, and something of an alchemical transmutation, a joke even, though not one without a certain biting irony. This is where the title derives its meaning, the idea of mutilating the giant, and raising something altogether stranger and more unpredictable in its place.

Jesús Vergara comments: “That’s a name I’ve been toying with for nearly a decade as a possible name for a musical project, lurking somewhere in the back of my mind, waiting for the right moment to crawl out into existence. It’s strange, isn’t it? How an idea can live with you for years, something you’re really aware of but never quite engage with. And for the longest time, I did nothing about it – just let it linger.

Fin of course, is the Spanish (and many other languages) word for ‘end’. But more than just a linguistic curiosity, it’s a philosophical anchor for me. I’ve always been haunted by something my father once said—that the only certainty we have in life is that it ends. And isn’t that the quiet, unspoken truth we all wrestle with? That everything is teetering on the edge of conclusion. Yet, despite that grim inevitability, we spend our lives constructing elaborate barricades, trying desperately to stave off every conceivable ending.

Fin then, is an attempt to confront that paradox head-on. It’s meant to be a repository for most of my musical fascinations and experiments. A place where I can exploit fragments of sound, the shards of melody, and other music fancies that I love. At present, it’s a one-man project, though I invite friends and peers to contribute. But still, it’s all under this banner, a reminder that every note, will one day resolve into silence”
