Mexican melodic death/doom metal band Lamentum premiere new single and lyric video »The Weight Of Goodbye«, released on October 31st, 2026.
»The Weight Of Goodbye« is now available on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms!
Lamentum is a melodic death/doom band based in Valles, S.L.P. Mexico. Formed in 2020, the band draws inspiration from the desolation and beauty of darkness, while exploring themes of futility, landscapes, and individual transformation. With expansive guitars backed by a sometimes melodic and dynamic section that exudes melancholy and rage.
»The Weight Of Goodbye« is Lamentum’s latest release and arguably the band’s most inspired and carefully crafted work to date. Throughout its journey, the record builds a progressive, dark, and direct sound.
Since its inception, Lamentum has maintained a distinctive musical identity: a sound built upon powerful and melancholic riffs, a strong emphasis on melody, and the inclusion of guitar solos deeply influenced by progressive rock. This is complemented by a poetic and nihilistic lyrical approach that plays a fundamental role in the band’s identity.
In »The Weight Of Goodbye«, Lamentum explores the darkest and most silent side of death: what remains after the loss of someone we love. The weight of such an absence does not always reveal itself in obvious ways. Often, the burden remains hidden and unspoken, even behind moments of apparent happiness, making it difficult for those around us to fully understand.
This work brings together some of the most human and mature compositions Lamentum has created to date, without abandoning the melancholic essence of extreme metal. Throughout its journey, the track beautifully approaches the haunting atmosphere of doom metal, while preserving the melody, darkness, and introspective character that define Lamentum’s current sound.

Lamentum is a melodic death/doom metal band hailing from Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Founded in 2020, the band currently consists of Miguel Cázares, José Guardado, and Samuel Becerra, with the latter two contributing as collaborators and/or session musicians from the local metal scene in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Lamentum has forged a dark and distinctive sonic identity, combining the crushing intensity of old-school death metal with the heaviness and melancholy of contemporary doom metal, while incorporating melodic elements drawn from progressive metal.
Their music is built upon intricate, heavy riffs, haunting atmospheres, cavernous growls, and melodic passages in which guitar solos take on a deeply emotional character.
Among their primary influences are Amorphis, Insomnium, Tiamat, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Soilwork, and others.
However, rather than merely reproducing these influences, the band seeks to develop its own musical language, where aggression, melody, and decay coexist within a unified sonic identity.
Since its formation, Lamentum has shared the stage with several acts from the Mexican metal scene, including Aetherevm, Anabantha, Voltax, Anima Tempo, Ash Nazg Búrz, and Cemican, while also participating in various festivals and gatherings dedicated to metal music.
Lyrically, Lamentum explores human existence through a dark and nihilistic perspective. Loss, death, emptiness, absence, emotional deterioration, and the inevitable confrontation with one’s own mortality shape a universe in which comforting answers do not exist.
It is not about glorifying despair, but rather observing what remains when all certainties have vanished.
