The Galician band Moura has a new studio album titled »Fume santo de loureiro«, set to be released on May 31st. However, starting this Thursday, April 25th at 00:00h, their first and only single, »Contra os males de aireada«, will be available for streaming on all platforms. Pre-order will be available through spindarecords.com.
This new song is a piece with a clear progressive vibe in which the band, as a result of their usual search for inspiration studies, employs various combined chants to create a hypnotic and healing mantra.
As announced just a few weeks ago, this EP was conceived as the soundtrack for the short-film »Nai«, directed by filmmaker Tito Refoxo, who also worked on the screenplay alongside Brais do Rei, the current drummer of the band.

Following their self-titled debut album, the stand-alone single »Muiñeira da Maruxaina«, and their second studio album »Axexan, espreitan«, the band Moura, known for their commitment to exploring and preserving Galician tradition, is involved in a multidisciplinary project that tells the story of a family from the village of Rois in A Coruña, who becomes embroiled in a dark tradegy with the disappearance of the youngest member of the family.
»Fume santo de loureiro« consists of three main songs, accompanied by an introduction and small cuts of incidental music that showcase the band’s more experimental side. It’s a dark album where traditional vocals and percussion guide through the process of loss; progressive chants create a hypnotic mantra against the evil eye; and lullabies (“arrolos”) turn into ghostly laments.
Recorded and mixed at Hertzcontrol Studio in Seixas (Portugal) by producer and engineer Marco Lima, »Fume santo de loureiro« features mastering by Álvaro Gallego, who has previously contributed to Moura’s previous albums.
»Fume santo de loureiro«, whose artwork by Hugo Santeiro (the band’s guitarist) marks a departure from their previous artwork, will be available on May 31st on all streaming platforms, as well as on compact disc and vinyl. The vinyl edition comes as part of ‘The Trippy Series’ by Spinda Records, in a limited and hand-numbered edition of 500 copies on transparent vinyl with silk-screen printing on one side, and it’s pre-orders start on April 25th at midnight.
