Venerable NY-based rockers Mirror Queen returned on September 27th with their fifth studio album on Tee Pee Records: »Dying Days«. Order your copy HERE!
Formed from the ashes of long running NYC band Kreisor, Mirror Queen kicked off their tenure in 2011 with a successful European tour – prowling many of the same boards their former outfit stalked – in support of their impressive debut, »From Earth Below«. Inspired by that steadfast, hard rock of old and the burgeoning neo-psych of Swervedriver and Motorpsycho, Mirror Queen’s mission was to craft magic of the highest order. Performing at countless festivals and touring the world with labelmates The Atomic Bitchwax, Earthless and Danava (for 2015’s »Scaffolds Of The Sky«), if there was any doubt as to where their steely sound was forged, it’s live and in front of a raucous crowd.
Due for release this fall, »Dying Days« offers a heady mix of psych, prog, and NWOBHM-isms and counts UFO, Wishbone Ash, and Iron Maiden amongst its influences. Their primary intent is to shoot their audience through a cannon of volume, hooks, and timeless riffs as frontman Kenny Kreisor explains:
“With »Dying Days« we’ve explored more progressive and melodic aspects of the band, without losing any of that Marshall crunch and metallic sheen. As always, our aim is to craft songs that can be cranked where it matters; live and in your headphones!”
Out of the ashes of long running NYC band Kreisor emerged Mirror Queen. Under the Kreisor moniker, the band put 2 US tours and 4 European expeditions behind them, including tinnitus-inducing sojourns supporting UFO and Uli Jon Roth all over the Continent. Three albums were issued between 2001-2006.
Original members Kenny Kreisor (guitars/vocals) and Jeremy O’Brien (drums) have been joined by James Corallo (Zandelle) on bass/backing vocals and most recently, Morgan McDaniel on second guitar. Morgan saw live action as part of a California run in summer of 2016, and a 2017 US tour with The Atomic Bitchwax. He also contributed immediately and immensely »Verdigris«; two tracks bear his songwriting signature, and his dynamite playing is all over the album.
2022 brings the pandemic delayed new album »Inviolate«; many of the songs within have been incorporated into the live set. Together they transcend the sameness of much of today’s stoner scene, blasting the audience by including songs with the volume and adding hooks to the timeless riffs.
Influenced by such 70’s legends as Hawkwind, Deep Purple, UFO, Blue Öyster Cult, Captain Beyond, the rockier sides of more recent outfits such as Motorpsycho and Swervedriver, as well as the best of the current heavy bands, they aspire towards psychedelic hard rock of the highest order.
“Soulful and menacing all the same, Mirror Queen’s invigorating psychedelic rock is a mesmerizing trip.” — Invisible Oranges
“»Inviolate« is a tour de force for Mirror Queen, demonstrating plainly what NYC club shows have known since the days when Aytobach Kreisor roamed the earth two decades ago.” — The Obelisk
