Aether: an infinite space, akasha, from which everything unfolds.

Three piece gothic alt-rock band from Ōtautahi, NZ. Weaving themes of death, forgiveness, transformation and surrender through doom, shoegaze and post-rock landscapes. A project birthed at the convergence of tenderness and turmoil. Luna Cubillana on vocals and guitar, Evan Oijordsbakken on bass and Dave Van Eerden on drums.

With their album, Luna And The Aether are making their place known amongst the dark alternative realms, their debut show in February saw 130+ people attend, followed by a sell out show in April. Luna’s celtic heritage (Spanish & Irish) is a prominent inspiration for the music, where the lyrics are laced in imagery of temples, healers, ritual and spirituality.

Influences such as Emma Ruth Rundle, Chelsea Wolfe and Faetooth glimmer through their music, but their own unique sound reigns strong above these. Blending together ethereal textures, heavy rock elements and vulnerability, Luna And The Aether bring an element of catharsis to their every performance.

»Metanoia« is a pilgrimage. Returning to self, to spirit and to love as an act of devotion, after so long drowning in darkness.

Through valleys of death and repentance, to mountain tops of forgiveness and surrender. This album is a very raw and honest quest to make amends with ourselves in times that aim to tear us away ourselves.
