After Expiry is a three-piece instrumental psychedelic doom metal band based out of the Pohangina Valley / Palmerston North in the Manawatū-Whanganui Region, New Zealand.

Formed in 2024, the trio is known for creating thunderous, hypnotic, and heavy atmospheric soundscapes. Their identity is famously tied to deep space and cosmic lore, with the band joking that their crushing rhythms are intended for “channeling a remnant race of Venusians”.

Unlike traditional metal acts, After Expiry focuses strictly on lengthy, heavy instrumental movements. Their musical formula heavily blends down-tuned, slow-tempo riffs layered with trippy, spatial effects with repetitive, drone-like basslines and atmospheric transitions.
