Belfast, UK based alternative metal band Solothurn is gearing up to release their new EP, »High Priestess«, which will see the light on July 24th, 2026.

»High Priestess« sees the Belfast five-piece push further into heavier, darker and more progressive territory. Built on doom-laden riffs, brooding melody and atmospheric weight, the EP captures the band expanding their sound while retaining raw emotional force. Produced by the band and recorded at Manor Park Studios in Northern Ireland, with Neal Calderwood handling recording, mixing and mastering, the EP was tracked in the wild Antrim hills near Lough Neagh – a fitting setting for a release steeped in decay, disconnection and spiritual unease.

Emerging from the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Solothurn are carving out their place in the UK and Irish scene with their ferocious blend of heavy, melodic riffs, stoner rock grooves, and hook-driven vocals. Drawing influences from bands like Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Deftones, Earthtone9, Quicksand, Tool and Helmet, the band’s sound is a towering wall of reverb-drenched noise and raw emotion.
Their debut EP, »Servitude« (2023), delves deep into the fractured psyche of modern urban life, tackling themes of addiction, societal decay, and governmental failure – all against the crumbling backdrop of Belfast’s inner city. Critics across Ireland, the UK, and Europe quickly took notice, with the EP earning spots on “EP of the Year,” “Single of the Year,” and “Newcomer of the Year” lists.
