“Stoner/road/desert doom from Bergen, Norway.”

Saint Lockjaw was born midwinter as an outlet for pain and grief. After dabbling in a multitude of other genres, this music was refreshing; it felt stupid, but in a good way. It was physical. It didn’t ask existential questions, it just kicked down the door and took you for a reckless ride on a quad.

Much of the EP was recorded through a lot of pain. Most leads were improvised one-shots, simply because that’s all my hands and arms could handle before cramping up. A lot of riffs were recorded only a few seconds at a time, working my way through the songs bit by bit. This is reflected in the leads, which are reckless and jittery, with over-bending and the occasional missed note. All of this I left in. Not because it was perfect. But because it was real. It kicked down the door without asking any deeper questions. It just commands: “You. Me. Asphalt. Now.”

Recorded and produced at Stone Principal Studios.
