Norwegian stoner/doom/post-metal band Bismarck return with new single »Sky Father« taken from their upcoming album »Vourukasha«

Bergen, Norway based stoner/doom/post-metal band Bismarck return with new single »Sky Father« taken from their upcoming album, »Vourukasha«, which will be released on May 3rd, 2024 via Dark Essence Records.

Says the band: “Our brand new single »Sky Father« is out now on Dark Essence Records! This is the opening track from our upcoming album »Vourukasha«, and it’s available everywhere you stream music.

»Sky Father« is the divine wrath, the flood to come, and the fall of man. The song’s aggressive nature and ferocity coming to life with the help of Aslak Heika Hætta Bjørn from Ondt Blod, as he summons the unavoidable calamity.”

Bismarck alternates between intense fuzzed out heaviness and clean, atmospheric drones, with lyrics expounding upon Western esotericism, altered states of consciousness and a mystical apocalypse.

Labeled by some as the heaviest band from Norway’s west coast, Bismarck’s uncompromising, sludgy riff mantras and psychedelic escapades have been stirring things up in the Norwegian underground after the band released their acclaimed debut album »Urkraft« in August 2018. Inspired by a wide array of genres and styles – from amp melting stoner-doom, to 60s and 70s psychedelic rock, the Norwegian black metal they grew up with, and Middle Eastern folk music – Bismarck’s music alternates between intense fuzzed out heaviness and clean, atmospheric drones, with its lyrics expounding upon esotericism, altered states of consciousness and a mystical apocalypse. Their second album »Oneiromancer« was released in April 2020 and received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

In November 2023, Bismarck signed with Dark Essence Records. The band commented:

“We’re stoked to say that we’ve signed with Dark Essence Records! They have been, and still are, a crucial part of the heavy music scene both nationally and internationally!

This is an important signing for us, and we’re looking forward to working with professional and dedicated people. Furthermore, they are people whom we consider our friends so we’re excited for the next chapter of our journey!

We would, though, like to apologise to our fans for the long wait you’ve had for new material. We know it seems like you’ve been hanging on forever, but the album is finally on the way! We don’t want to say too much about it at the moment, but you will not be disappointed. Let’s just say that it has all you would expect from Bismarck – and then some.”
