Patriarchs In Black release Heatwave cover »The Groove Line«; new studio album out early 2027 on Metalville Records!

Patriarchs In Black have released a cover of »The Groove Line«, originally by the disco-funk group Heatwave.

John Kelly told Dan Lorenzo he thought the track (originally released in 1978) would make a great cover. Lorenzo reimagined the guitar parts and guest vocalist Mark Sunshine (RiotGod, Unida) crushed as always. Guest bass on the track by Salvatore Iuvara.

Dan Lorenzo says about »The Groove Line«: “A few months ago, John Kelly called me or maybe he actually texted me and said we should cover groove line by heat wave. Johnny and I listen to a lot of music that isn’t heavy metal or hard rock and I thought it was an interesting choice for sure. Who else could sing this and really crush it except for Mark Sunshine from Unida. You might notice a little surprise after the third chorus. There’s an homage to my wife’s favorite band Steely Dan if you listen carefully. Hopefully you’ll want to listen to patriarch in black’s cover of groove line repeatedly.”

A new Patriarchs In Black studio album is planned for early 2027 on Metalville Records – the first lead single »No More Blood« will be released on October 1st, 2026.
