Warsaw, Poland based atmospheric doom/post-metal band backbone premiere the second single »Dissolved In Atman« taken from their upcoming sophomore studio album, »Ama Nesciri«, set to release on October 28th, 2026.

backbone: second single »Dissolved In Atman« announces post/doom metal band new album »Ama Nesciri«. Release date: October 28, 2026.

backbone is a Warsaw-based band playing a modern blend of atmospheric/post/doom metal. Active since 2012, the group creates music drawn from inspirations such as Dirge, Opeth, Yob, Cult Of Luna, Blindead, and Obscure Sphinx. The band has released three EPs, one split, and a full-length album, »Embracing Dissolution«. Currently, they are putting the finishing touches on their second LP and the fourth edition of their own Blood&Bone festival, with proceeds dedicated to supporting bone cancer patients.

The single »Dissolved In Atman« marks the next narrative stage of the upcoming album »Ama Nesciri« -following the track »Radical Mystic« – focusing on the character of the Mystic, torn by the conflict between the perceived world and his own spiritual needs. The album explores the universal human need for spirituality in all its dimensions, drawing references from world religions and philosophies.

In »Dissolved In Atman«, the titular Mystic is guided by the “Voice of the Many” in pursuit of enlightenment, transcendence, and the union of the individual self with the absolute. In doing so, it raises questions about the consequences of crossing the boundaries of the human condition. The lyrics to »Dissolved In Atman« draw from the tenets of Dharmic religions (including the concepts of atman and brahman present in Hinduism and Buddhism), Gnosticism, Platonic philosophy, and the universal motif of the soul’s resting place after death.

The vocal parts representing the “Voice of the Many” in »Dissolved In Atman« – consisting of the intertwined voices of souls from the abyss were performed by an ensemble featuring Barbara Kowalska, Alina Kowalik, Anna Gębala, Piotr Kowalik, Piotr Kowalczyk, Artur Ściechowski, Aleksander Boguszewski, and Michał Kowalski.

The first single announcing the new album was »Radical Mystic«.
