Warsaw, Poland based psychedelic four-piece folk/stoner/doom metal band TOŃ has released a music video for the track »…A dom niewoli zniszcz i spal« from their debut album, »Korzenie«, out June 14th, 2024 on CD and digital format.

TOŃ [Warsaw, Poland]: An undertaker entrepreneur, an electricity lawyer, a singing teacher, a Boeing pilot, and an MTV translator descend into a basement adorned with a deer skull, photographs of the deceased, digital church organs and a myriad of other, more or less peculiar instruments, to create music that blurs the lines between wakefulness and dreams. Heaviness and guttural screams mix with harmony, distinct female vocals and subtlety.

TOŃ’s musical journey began in 2021, initiated by Kuba and Robert, Wojtek, Monika and Jagoda joined soon thereafter. The band released their debut album entitled »Korzenie« (“Roots”) on June 14th, 2024. The album features songs that defy genre classification, combining elements of stoner rock, psychedelia, post-punk with folk and woodland motifs, extending to extreme metal. Each track is unique, telling a different story, yet reflecting human disorientation in the modern world, a longing for unity with other people and nature, and a desire to find one’s path amidst adversity.

It seems it’s nature’s way for musicians to orbit around Facebook. Some even manage to meet in real life (sic!). One such unique case is the acquaintance of Kuba Guzikowski with Robert Wiśniewski, who invited Kuba to his basement (sounds worse than it actually is, really). Adding to two guitars and a sampler, bassist Wojtek Górecki and vocalist Monika Adamska-Guzikowska joined the band. The final addition, drummer Jagoda Podskarbi, sealed the ranks.

The musicians share a common love for stoner rock, psychedelia, black and death metal, grunge, folk, and multidimensional sound experimentation. Thus, their debut album »Korzenie« was born, a musical blend intertwined with woodland runes and dense fog.

The songs were recorded at Nebula Studio by Tomek Stołowski (Tides From Nebula), with most of them mixed and mastered by Maciek Karbowski (also from TFN). The title track was mixed by Robert Szydło (Mikromusic).
