Portland, OR – Doombia, Portland’s BIPOC-led, gender-queer band fusing doom metal and psychedelic rock with Latin cumbia and salsa, announces the release of their new single »Man And His Castle«, available Friday, April 24th on all major streaming platforms, Bandcamp, and accompanied by a music video on YouTube.

»Man And His Castle« is the second advance single from Doombia’s highly anticipated sophomore full-length album, El diablo que conoces arriving this Fall. The track showcases the band’s signature bilingual, boundary-crossing sound – this time delivered with an alternative/grunge edge, topical and politically charged lyrics, and a surprise Latin jam that closes the song.

“»Man And His Castle« is probably the least Doombia-sounding song on the record – until it isn’t. The Latin influence stays hidden the whole way through and then just explodes at the end. It’s also the mathiest thing we have written so far, which felt right for a song about cycles of violence,” states Doombia bandleader Brendan Deiz. “The song comments on society’s love of strong men and willingness to promote them to undeserved positions of power and the danger that creates, rampant self-centered individualism, rising global fascism, and the endless bloodshed necessary to maintain empire – both at home and abroad, from the epidemic of mass shootings and police violence in the US, to the bombing of elementary schools and hospitals in Gaza and Iran.”

The single was recorded at Portland’s Hallowed Halls Studio with platinum-selling engineer Justin Phelps (The Mars Volta, Dead Kennedys, Poison Idea, Cake) and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Alan Douches (Mastodon, Converge, Chelsea Wolfe, Fleetwood Mac).
