Lisbon, Portugal based doom/death metal band My Dementia has just released their debut album »Premonição: Só me arrependo do que não vivi« on May 8th, 2025 via Caverna Abismal Records.

Tragically, frontman Miguel Carneiro passed away shortly after completing the album, making this release a heartfelt farewell and a tribute to his voice and vision. There’s real weight behind every riff and lyric, and it shows.

My Dementia was formed in 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal, channeling the spirit of the early ’90s doom/death metal scene. With a sound that combines the bleak intensity of death metal with the somber weight of doom, the band weaves together guttural growls, mournful clean vocals, and bleak melodic passages to create a deeply melancholic and mesmerizing atmosphere.

After laying a strong foundation with their debut EP, My Dementia return with their first full-length album »Premonição: Só me arrependo do que não vivi« – a release that pushes the band’s personal and emotional core to tragic new depths. The themes explored in the lyrics, written before the album’s completion, now feel hauntingly prophetic.

Shortly after finishing the album’s production, frontman Miguel Carneiro tragically passed away, leaving behind a legacy that now finds its voice in this final recording. The album stands not only as a testament to the band’s artistic evolution but also as a deeply personal tribute to Miguel – immortalizing his voice, his pain, and his vision.

His words echo with heartbreaking resonance: “In the deep of the abyss / The past of an unlived life / A future that hurts even more / Nothing to live for / A soul rotting / In a pending life.”
