Ripple Music’s »Turned To Stone« unique split series focuses on unique pairings from across the stoner, doom and heavy psych underground and explore the farthest reaches of riffdom. This ninth chapter builds a towering wall of sound, bringing Philadephia-based monolithic heavy merchants Ritual Earth and Italian psych-laden doom duo Kazak to the forefront.

About the songwriting, Kazak says: “What would happen if we lived our lives unbound by the habits that suppress our being? Is there a way out, a return to our primitive origins as living beings? Our music describes the world as man has transformed it: a planet where the words “live” and “survive” have the same meaning. Inspired as much by the lysergic atmospheres of OM and King Buffalo as by the likes of Ufomammut and Sleep, Italy’s Kazak was formed in 2018 by Matteo Gherardi (drums, pads) and Daniele Picchi (guitar, voice, synth). They have been playing together since 2007 first in a tribute band, then in their original project Fish Taco. In 2018 they started writing and recording songs as a duo under the Kazak monicker. Perfectly blending stoner rock and psychedelic atmospheres into a wall of doom, Kazak’s reverberated voices lead you into introspective journeys where primitive and gargantuan drums show the path to follow.
