Moscow, Russia based instrumental psychedelic fuzz/doom rock duo Holy Watts is back with their new album, entitled »Tsar«, which was just released on December 28th, 2024.

Holy Watts is a fuzz/doom/psychedelic/art rock band from Moscow, Russia.

»Tsar« is a rock-ballet in 10 scenes inspired by the character of East Slavic mythology and folklore, Kashchey the Immortal.

Scene 1. Last Rites
The last moments of the Tsar’s life. The last rites to the Tsar. He dies. The mourners cry, the pot-bellied boyars groan.

Scene 2. Triumph
Even after death, the Tsar remains the Tsar. In the afterlife, he marches triumphantly to the sound of fanfare among the worshiping courtiers.

Scene 3. At the Ball
A lavish ball is held in his honor. However, this does not please the Tsar. He has not yet realized that he has died. He feels that something is wrong.

Scene 4. Heavy thoughts
After the ball, heavy thoughts torment the Tsar. He realizes that his earthly life is over and now he is in the afterlife.

Scene 5. Restless Sleep
In despair, the Tsar goes to the royal chambers and falls asleep. The thoughts do not leave him. He sleeps restlessly, constantly tossing and turning and waking up. In the end the Tsar gets up in a cold sweat. He realizes that his death was not natural, he was murdered.

Scene 6. In a Rage
The Tsar wakes up in a rage at the realization of what happened. He drives away the courtiers, who run away in fear stumbling. For a while he calms down, but then again and again he continues to fly into a rage.

Scene 7. Prayer
The Tsar humbles himself with a prayer. He prays for the repose of his soul.

Scene 8. Anguish
With anguish the Tsar recalls life in the flesh. He recalls grand feasts, glorious victories in battles, native birches, and fly agarics.

Scene 9. Revenge
The Tsar decides to take revenge on his murderer, and the revenge will be terrible. He performs an ancient ritual so that revenge will overtake the murderer in the world of the living.

Scene 10. Countdown
The life of the Tsar’s murderer is sealed. The countdown has begun.
