The Blacktones were born as an instrumental band in 2011 in Sardinia, Italy, by Sergio Boi (guitars) and Gianni Farci (bass). After some Live shows, Maurizio Mura (Elepharmers, Swaamp) and Simone Utzeri joined the band, on drums and vocals duties.

With this lineup the EP »Distorted Reality« was released on June 2012.

The music style of The Blacktones is influenced by the metal/stoner/grunge of the 90s, with the addition of polyrhythmic elements and seeking a modern sound.

Two years later Simone leaves the band, replaced by Aaron Tolu (Shardana) and after resuming live activities the band releases the first self-produced album in 2015, recorded and mixed at V-Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio.

In 2016 Paolo Mulas (Acts Of Tragedy, Swaamp) joined the band. In 2017 »The Day We Shut Down The Sun« was released, released by Sliptrick Records, mixed by Jim Pinder from Threehouse Studio and mastered at Audiosiege Studio.

The following years are dedicated to the promotion and live activities, not only on the island but also in Italy, Romania and Hungary.

In 2019 the band resumed studio working for the next album, finding also the time to release a new digital single, »Minnesota«, with an official video in 2020.

In the following years the record was completed and in the meantime Alessandro Castellano (Acts Of Tragedy, Dogmathica) took place on drums replacing Maurizio.

The band signed for Sleaszy Rider Records in 2023.

In the first half of 2024 the album was recorded at V-Studio by Paolo Mulas, mixed by Jim Pinder from Threehouse Studio and mastered at Audiosiege Studio.
