Swedish/Norwegian post-rock and dark psych collective Orsak:Oslo premiere their slow and soothing new single “In What Way Are You Different” exclusively on Everything Is Noise. New album »In Irons« is out April 27th on Vinter Records.

“A great post-rock band will clearly stand out as being something truly unique and Orsak:Oslo fit the bill.” – Everything Is Noise

Orsak:Oslo is one of those hidden gems, always grinding, always perfecting the imperfections. The four-piece collaboration made up of both Swedish and Norwegian musicians from Gothenburg and Oslo, has been hanging around the underground for years, steadily pawing its way with a mellow, laidback, yet intense sound. And they don’t let go. They never do. They take you on a journey right off the bat, and the trip feels delicious.

About this new track, the band comments: “We see this as a hypnotic and somewhat introspective song. What started out as just another melancholic moment in our recording space, ended up as a piece seeking to probe the depths of the Human Condition. From tiny rays of optimism to an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and despair, we wanted to capture at least traces of the darker side of the human experience. The music begins with somewhat serene anticipation, but as we gradually build toward the end, we aim at removing any lingering remnants of hope. »069 In What Way Are You Different« is not about romanticizing mental illness or capitalizing on the tormented artist trope: We know firsthand the importance of addressing these issues with caution and respect. Rather, it’s a requiem for those who have fallen prey to their inner demons, without the stereotypical narrative of coming out stronger on the other side. If you’re looking for a piece of art that speaks to your struggles and maybe even inspires you to just give up all together: we got you covered.”

Orsak:Oslo »In Irons« available April 27th on Vinter Records (vinyl and digital) and Evil Noise Recordings (cassette).

Orsak:Oslo was founded by guitarist Christian Andersson from Gothenburg, Sweden and drummer Øyvind Minsaas from Oslo, Norway. In the summer of 2014, they released their first EP »Torggata Sway«, named after the street where they first met and ended up sharing a flat. Soon after they got a hold on Bjarne Karlsson (keys, now guitar). The final lineup was established in 2016, when Peter Nilsson joined on bass.

After no less than nine EP releases, March 2019 saw the prolific foursome issue their eponymous debut album on the German label Kapitaen Platte. Inspired by the monotony and melancholy of the darkness that the nordic winter brings, Orsak:Oslo craft an intriguing brew of psych, dystopian post-rock and krautrock. An unholy marriage between impulsive improv and thoughtful composition, later melodies and new harmonies are carefully woven in, layer by layer. With reverence and underlying devotion to the aura and musical preconditions laid down from the start, the result is raw, unpolished and true. Their upcoming sophomore album »In Irons« will be released on April 27th through Vinter Records.
