On Terrestre’s third album, the Madrid trio deploys an instrumental soundscape that moves between the placid and the abrupt, the ethereal and the forceful, the continuous and the syncopated, framed in a general atmosphere that is rather unsettling and somewhat dark.
Delving into the balance of influences between postrock, postmetal, stoner and even doom, the songs were written after the line-up change that Carlos Prieto brought to the drums in 2020. »Maere«, the song that gives its name to the album, was written a long time ago during a brief stint with Andreu Bozada in charge of the drumsticks, and has been recovered and rearanged to the new formation.
The name comes from “Mare” (“Maere” in Old English), a kind of demon or night creature that presses on your chest while you sleep, causing nightmares and that takes different forms in different folklores, like Germanic and Slavic.

It symbolizes the dark times we live in, in a world that is beginning to see its worst nightmares become reality in the form of dystopia, stalked by new climate, repressive, war, genocidal, pandemic threats, all of them crossed by greed, individualism, ecpathy and bringing back old ghosts that were thought to have been overcome.
