Swärta was formed in Visby in 2019 and the following year released the self-titled debut album which was described by Sweden Rock Magazine as a hybrid between doom metal, post-rock and black metal which “in no way tries to pull the listener’s hair out”, a formulation the band can fully recognize in. Swärta is not the band that offers either displays of technical opulence, pompous grandeur or intricate guitar solos. Instead, they represent an uncompromisingly chewing barrenness, a heaviness and an aggressive grinding, completely in tune with the grim contemporary from which they mainly draw their inspiration.
