Gothenburg, Sweden based post-metal act Novarupta is gearing up to release their fourth full-length album »Astral Sands« on February 14th, 2025 via Suicide Records.
For this new album, Novarupta mastermind Alex Stjernfeldt (Grand Cadaver, Child, Let Them Hang) is joined by musicians such as Arvid Hällagård (Greenleaf), Patrik Wirén (Misery Loves Co.), Martin Wegeland (Domkraft), Per Stålberg (Division Of Laura Lee), Jonas Mattsson (Year Of The Goat), Kristofer Åström (Fireside) & more.

It all started with a fire! Disillusioned, but still a fire. Novarupta was created as something other than just a band, a collective concept spanning the elements that creates the essence of life.
In 2019 the recording of »Disillusioned Fire« was released, and that was only the beginning. In 2020 »Marine Snow« saw the light. The second album won the prestigious Manifestgalan Award for “Metal of the Year”.
Novarupta returned in 2022 to release the third instalment »Carrion Movements«. Featuring only two instrumental tracks over 36 minutes of playing time, the album was released to critical acclaim.
The process for the fourth and final album was a longer and more gruesome ordeal and the recording went through several different stages before things fell into place. And the journey of Novarupta ends February 12th 2025 with »Astral Sands« as the tetralogy is complete.
Each part contains concepts connected to the elements and each album is by itself a conceptul album with a life of its own, yet also a smaller part of a bigger picture, that is completed with the journey through the four albums and elements.
The main constants in Novarupta has been Alex Stjernfeldt and Arjen Kunnen with immense and unrelenting support from Roger Andersson of Suicide Records, but Novarupta was always more of a collective art project than a band that worked with different vocalists on each song, making each song a unique journey.
