Swedish progressive sludge metal trio Vaara announces new album »Transition«; first single »Light« out this Friday!

Kiruna, Sweden based progressive sludge metal trio Vaara will release the first single »Light« from their second album »Transition« this Friday, October 17th, 2025.
Pre-save »Light« at THIS LOCATION!
Says the band: “This was built in sweat, distortion, and every ounce of noise we’ve got. This Friday, we’re handing it over. No gimmicks. No shine. Just raw energy – from us to you.”
Vaara is a Swedish sludge band from the cold city that is being moved above the Arctic Circle, Kiruna. In 2024 we released our self-titled debut album that reflected the frustration, anger, fear and despair that people felt as they revolted against unfair conditions and wages in 1969. How little human value was when profit was the goal. But now we are back with our latest work, »Transition«.
“Does mankind drive theirself to empty their surroundings to the point of bursting or is there something else outside that influences us to do so?”
»Transition« is both heavier and darker musically than the previous release, but dynamics, groove and melody have also been enforced. There are elements of sludge, post-metal, death, progressiveness and space.

During their short time, Vaara has had close to ten successful gigs in both Sweden and Norway and there are more planned for the future.
