KAHFA releases »Contact« – a fierce dive into a world of fuzz music, stoner rock but also poetry.
The Swiss duo KAHFA returns on Friday, February 14, 2025 with a new EP, »Contact«, available in 100% digital version under the Dahu Sonore label (Switzerland) and Argonauta Records label (Italy) that will continue the excellent promotion that they started with the first album in 2024.
In only four tracks, the mini album delivers a dense and punchy work, mixing stoner rock, fuzz and lyrics in French. An album (EP) that is both poetic and raw and that was recorded last November at Indie Ear Studio near Belfort (France). With »Contact«, KAHFA moves up a gear: heavier, more direct, this album is an invitation to dive into a raw and visceral universe where music becomes a weapon used only to shake consciences and above all, to shatter illusions.
A journey in four pieces:
1. Capharnaüm
“Les visages s’illuminent, à la lueur des divinités. Se présentent comme nouvelles mines, à leurs malheurs passés. C’est dans l’émotion qu’ils glissent, leurs délires d’illuminés. Et en la croyance qu’ils tissent, les chemins des égarés.”
“Faces light up, in the glow of the divinities. Present themselves as new faces, to their past misfortunes. It is in emotion that they slide, their delusions of the enlightened. And in belief that they weave, the paths of the lost.”
This piece opens the album like a cry of alarm in the face of ideological drifts and collective confusion. In this “capharnaüm”, KAHFA offers a raw deconstruction, carried by intense rhythms and sharp guitar riffs.
2. Sève de volupté
“Parle, arme, face à l’ivresse du temps, face aux ivrognes des clans.”
“Speak, weapon, in the face of the intoxication of time, in the face of the drunkards of the clans.”
Between poetry and despair, this title explores human wandering and the quest for meaning in a world saturated with information. The “sap of voluptuousness” here becomes an echo of the fragility of our existence.
3. Contact
“C’est dans les épaves que je nourris mon enclave. En seul maître à bord, je pars sur le corps à corps.”
“It’s in the wrecks that I feed my enclave. As the only master on board, I go handto-hand.”
The eponymous track marks a turning point in the album, combining rebellion and introspection. With a massive sound and figurative writing, it celebrates the courage to stand up to illusions and oppression.
4. En Tandem
“Tu portes le poids de tes choix, entre pertes et fracas. Respire! Respire! Respire!”
“You carry the weight of your choices, between losses and crashes. Breathe! Breathe! Breathe!”
This last track, both powerful and liberating, closes the album on a note of hope. Through airy instrumentation and introspective lyrics, KAHFA calls for finding balance in the heart of our personal struggles without letting ourselves be dictated to.
Visceral and uncompromising music:
Driven by massive riffs, shattering rhythms, and vibrant guitar lines, »Contact« is rooted in stoner rock, enriched by a DIY approach and a sound that is both raw and refined. The lyrics, in French, captivate with their power and depth, oscillating between revolt and introspection.
KAHFA, who has given 37 concerts since 2022, continues to forge his reputation thanks to strong and visceral performances, where the energy of a duo meets a dark and at the same time vibrant poetry.
The cover of »Contact«, imagined by Jo Riou, is a striking work: masked figures ready to fight, symbols of confrontation and theater. It illustrates the album as a call to break the masks to reveal the truths.
