Zurich, Switzerland based heavy psych/post-punk trio The Shattered Mind Machine has just released their third studio album »Technokrat« on May 12th, 2023 via AuGeil Records.

Tracklist:
01. Technokrat (Intro)
02. Railway
03. Miles And Miles
04. No Punishment
05. Show Them
06. Go On
07. Shy
08. Hiroo
09. Through The Years
10. The Idea

The Shattered Mind Machine’s third album is the first one with new drummer Dominik Jucker and further explores the limits of psych-rock and post-punk.

Thematically, the dystopia of the highly acclaimed last record »Apparatschik« (2021) is followed. Again, a rather cerebral term is the inspiration for capturing the mood of the ten tracks. How could it be otherwise with a band that has focused so much on their own vision of guitar music in recent years. The songwriting remains dark in the haze of post-punk and alternative. Between all the broken things, a lightness shines through on »Technokrat«, which sets this album apart from its shadowy predecessor.

The trio uses the tried and tested, but also breaks new ground. Lyricist Simon Hirzel lets the audience get closer than ever to his innermost being, sings about friendship (»Shy«) and fever dreams (»No Punishment«). The band’s typical interweaving of history and literature (to be heard on 2019 debut »Gourrama« about Swiss author Friedrich Glauser) is again part of the whole on »Technokrat«. This can be heard on »Hiroo«, which tells the tragic story of the Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda, who continued a long-lost fight as a guerrilla fighter for 29 years because he simply did not notice the end of WWII in the jungle.
