Hailing from Basel and Zurich, Glaston’s sound is defined by a synthesis of guitar, bass, piano and drums. Through their instruments, they take the listener on a journey of exploration, tapping deeply into emotions and feelings within. The songwriting process behind the new album, »I Am Whole«, was the most personal for the quartet, yet: as a voyage into our innermost selves, the songs are uncompromising and upfront, audacious and absolute.

By turns cinematic and melancholic, the album straddles the line between playful and dynamic. Whilst the 11 songs are unique on their own, they share one essential quality: they are honest. Through their orchestral arrangements, the band evokes authentic soundscapes and emotions that take the listener on a journey from inner conflict to absolute salvation. There’s still so much to feel.

The post-rock band Glaston has always used instrumental soundscapes and narrative-like structures to evoke profound emotions. The quartet’s new album, »I Am Whole«, marks the next step in their evolution. With 11 finely crafted songs that are resolute in their desire to build a dramatic narrative, listeners are taken on a journey of exploration, emotions and the deeper feelings within.

Life’s adventures embark from within. Encountering, probing, exploring, finding our way: our emotions spirit us to new places and bring us right back. They are what bind us as humans. They are what make us unique as individuals. We seek connecting experiences that are as personal as can be, ultimately realising that it is our exposure to the full spectrum of emotions that define us.

The songwriting process behind »I Am Whole« proved to be the band’s most personal, yet. The album was recorded at “Die Mühle” studio in northern Germany, with the creative input and help of Paul Seidel and Peter Voigtman (The Ocean).

The intimate and warm atmosphere of the recording session inspired the creation of songs that led on a voyage into one’s innermost self – uncompromising and upfront, audacious and absolute. While each song is unique on their own – by turns cinematic and melancholic, playful and dynamic – there is one clear quality that they all share: they are honest. With orchestral arrangements by Coen Strouken, Glaston’s music evokes authentic soundscapes and emotions that take the listener on a journey from inner conflict to absolute salvation.

By delving deeply into theirselves, they expand their horizon – losing sight of the line where spaces blur, and where the past detaches from the future. In this place, they find theirselves in a parallel universe where intoxication and lethargy, hope and nostalgia, vulnerability and excitement are dancing in an all-embracing waltz. There’s still so much to feel.
