“For us, the album is synonymous with joyful playing, harmony, pleasure, and an illuminating collective human experience; be, create and go there together and burst out laughing like children.”
“»Orpheo_ Nebula« is inspired by crossings, wanderings and other astral journeys, almost like initiations, as well as flying saucers. The myth of Orpheus, the need of light air, live and transcend the suffocation of the world we create, the wind in the leaves in the morning.
The song and sounds of the world that fill our ears like the sun warms our skin and help us being alive. The need for resilience to get through life. L’Amour. La Liberté. That life is a miracle and it’s up to us to preserve it. The visceral need for verses.”
The noise rock trio torpedo announce the listening of their new album, »Orpheo_ Nebula« released by Broken Clover Records.
Take the filthy foundations of a metallurgical plant crisscrossed by freight trains and a world that just started to lock up. That’s the picture in which torpedo recorded their second album.
»Orpheo_ Nebula« revolves around six poetic texts from which an epic piece is born ; its seven parts interspersed with noise. Combination of noise rock, industrial, 70’s influences, flirting with sludge, some drone waves, feedback in its different modes of production ; the psychedelism of words, sometimes spoken, sometimes spat or howled that every now and then ventures to caress grindcore. The stream of the album sails in always new waters.
The album can be listened to on the group’s Bandcamp: torpedcyclope.bandcamp.com
The album finds its place at the other end of the world, on the Broken Clover Records catalog in San Francisco. It will be distributed in France by Araki Records and by Irascible in Switzerland.
»Orpheo_ Nebula« is a piece built around six poems. A combination of noise rock, industrial, 70’s influences, flirting with sludge, a few drones waves, feedback in different production methods, the psychedelia of words, sometimes spoken, sometimes spat or howled that every now and then ventures to caress grindcore. The guitars unfold in chiseled layers, clouds of light fuzz or sharp riffs. At times, atmosphere fly like fluorescent ghosts. The bass lines carry trance, powerful and purring now feline and again fiery, shaking the structure of the pieces. The drum, whose play is subtle and powerful, hit the tempo on a shining translation of the emotions of each moment.
The album leads us, from »The Fall« immersion between 70’s and dissonant 90’s, to the dark and raw riffs of »HELL«, then »Part III – La Mort« is a moan from the abyss, a sob for humanity. Turn your record: »Desert« spectral wander after-tasting of space-rock. »Interlude« pause in ether, before the abrasively industrial and claustrophobic ride of »Part V – Interstices« which recalls aspects of a gallop. »POEM« allows for harmonic elevation and its playful math rock journeys to an elsewhere. The whole tied up by ambient tracks and dry noise.
