Impure Wilhelmina present »Électricité noire«, the first single taken from their forthcoming album »Le Sanglot«. The track introduces the record’s emotional and conceptual core, standing as both an ode to rock music and a meditation on its enduring cathartic force.

Opening with a massive and haunting arpeggio, »Électricité noire« gradually unfolds into a surge of raw energy. A solitary voice emerges within the composition to remind the listener that rock itself is a form of dark electricity. Through performance and expression, sorrow is allowed to speak. In a world that appears fractured and unstable, the song frames music as a necessary outlet for anger, grief and disillusionment.

Accompanying the release is a music video directed by Steven Blatter (Prog-Pics), built around the physical immediacy of performance. Filmed with the band playing the track in a stripped and direct setting, the visual reflects the song’s focus on the raw force of music itself.

Within the broader narrative of »Le Sanglot«, the track occupies a crucial position. Conceived as the sonic equivalent of a sob, the album observes the world through a stark lens, confronting ugliness, mediocrity and quiet violence. Yet the opening movement carried by »Électricité noire« also hints at the possibility of grace, establishing the fragile tension between darkness and light that runs throughout the record.

Born in Geneva’s alternative underground in 1996, Impure Wilhelmina has forged a singular path between metal and progressive dark rock, marked by density, melody, and emotional restraint. After three decades of evolution and renewal, the quartet now enters a new chapter with »Le Sanglot«, their most radical, yet organic, transformation to date.

Entirely written and sung in French, »Le Sanglot« sharpens the band’s vision into something more direct, more cutting, and more exposed. The album is conceived as a sob in sound, the musical equivalent of human tears. Its lyrics observe a fractured world with surgical coldness, portraying ugliness, mediocrity, and quiet violence, yet never abandoning the possibility of grace. From the cathartic surge of »Électricité noire« to the fragile radiance of »À jamais radieuse«, darkness and light circulate in constant tension. The record refines Impure Wilhelmina’s blend of progressive, dark, and melodic rock metal, driven by magnetic vocals and deeply textured arrangements. The arrival of guitarist Edouard Nicod broadens the sonic architecture, while the collaboration with Marion Leclercq (Mütterlein) on »Train mort« pushes the album into its most abrasive terrain.

Recorded and mixed by Yvan Bing and mastered by Magnus Lindberg, the album is adorned with a sound which balances power and refinement with remarkable clarity.
