The Turkish doom/death metal band Sermon was founded in 1997 in Izmir. The same year released the first demo »Cosmic Prisoner«, then the band deepened its musical research and released the demo »Sea Of Meanings« two years later on the Yucel Music label.
After the good feedback of this second demo, the band made a place for itself in the Turkish metal scene, which allowed them to be invited in the television show “Rock Market” which was broadcast on TRT, the television of State of Turkey.
After some line-up changes and the recording of new songs that would never be released, the band broke up in 2004.
In 2021, Cem Barut (the only original member of Sermon) reformed the band with Durmuş Kalın. They start working on new songs and include Harun Altun (from Forgotten, another Turkish doom/death band) on vocals to record the new album.
»Till Birth Do Us Part«, the band’s debut album will be available as CD digipack via the Bitume label as well as on Bandcamp and the streaming platforms from February 10, 2023.
»Till Birth Do Us Part«:
With their first album, the Turkish band Sermon offers us a deep and massively heavy doom/death metal, which is characterized by an atmospheric clarity and an intense depth. Sermon creates and delivers solid songwriting and music composition, incredible rendition of excellent craftsmanship and musicality using epic drum beats / slow beats / rhythms. It also wields guitar riffs imbued with dark melodies as well as a buzzing funeral atmosphere reminiscent of Paradise Lost, Type O Negative & Entombed.
