The Hyena Kill released their long-awaited third album »Collapse« on November 14th, 2025 via APF Records. It’s more than a set of songs. It’s a journey that begins in darkness and ends in something lighter, freer and more at peace.

The Hyena Kill is a visceral, emotionally charged quartet from Manchester, forging their own path since 2012. Channelling the raw power of Deftones, Queens Of The Stone Age, Nirvana, Helmet and Tool, their music collides ferocity with vulnerability, resulting in an immersive sound that’s gripped critics and fans in equal measure.

Frontman Steven Dobb opens up about the process:

“I gave every fibre of my being to this record. When it was finally finished, I knew I’d sacrificed a part of my soul and left it buried within this collection of songs. The sudden loss of my father put a huge pause on the album process as I battled with the grief of losing someone so special to me. By the time it came to write the lyrics I’d become a recluse; lost and lonely, viewing the world through a haze of darkness and falling back on unhealthy coping methods. This album is me clawing my way out, breathless and exhausted but out nonetheless. Driven by the desire to not only make my father proud but to finally bask in the warmth of the sun and let myself heal.”

That emotion runs through the whole record. It moves between intensity and stillness, from fury to quiet reflection, always rooted in something deeply personal. The honesty is clear from the first listen and becomes even more striking the deeper you go.

Steven’s vocals carry the weight of the record, often soaring, sometimes barely holding together. Lorna Blundell brings both force and feeling with her drumming, combining heaviness with real nuance. Her vocals add atmosphere and space. Charlie Seisay-Heald provides both the grinding bass and rhythm guitars, interweaving throughout with his soul-searching lead guitar lines and beautiful synth melodies.

The album also features contributions from close friends and collaborators. Jen Hingley (of False Advertising) adds vocals and a sharp guitar solo on »Porcelain«. Andy Preece (of label-mates Under) brings subtlety with his piano on »Sedatives«. Jake Healy created the unsettling backdrop of »Crisis Actor« and co-wrote Rust, which features a stunning vocal from Aisling Rhianon Whiting (of Sans Froid).

Charlie reflects on what it took to get this album over the line:

“»Collapse« has a fairly obvious meaning to it. It represents us and the world around us. The unspoken principle was authenticity. We found the results were better when we didn’t try too hard, when we didn’t force it. The resulting batch of tunes are a snapshot of the time. There were no leftovers. What you see is what you got. Some nearly didn’t make the cut and it was only dogged idiocy that kept us going. The plug was nearly pulled at several junctures. As it is, we got to the finish line and are all glad we can now share it with the select few who’ll get what we’re on about. We got there with a lot of help from our friends, without whom it’d been canned long ago.”

After the success of »A Disconnect« in 2021, the band took their time with this one. Life got messy, things got delayed, but the result is a record they always believed in. »Collapse« is honest, raw and fully realised. It shows The Hyena Kill at their most open and their most powerful.
