Leeds, UK post-sludge outfit Helve return with their second full-length album, »Within The Earth«, a record that sees the five-piece push their blend of crushing heaviness, oppressive atmosphere and dynamic textures further than ever before.

Drawing from the heavier end of sludge while incorporating the expansive, ambient soundscapes associated with post-metal bands such as Rosetta, Cult Of Luna and Isis, Helve have spent the last decade steadily refining a sound built around the tension between heaviness and atmosphere.

Featuring the tracks »Scarlet Rot«, »The Slumber Of Cowardice«, »Hole« and »Harvest«, »Within The Earth« is the culmination of three years of writing with new vocalist James, capturing the considerable progression the band have made since their debut. Across the record, Helve explore dynamics, atmosphere and increasingly ambitious songwriting without sacrificing the sheer heaviness at the heart of their sound.

Over the past ten years, Helve have built a reputation as an intense and emotionally charged live band, performing throughout the UK and Scotland alongside the likes of Blanket, Hundred Year Old Man, Conjurer and Torpor, as well as delivering their own headline shows.

Their debut full-length, »To Be Forgotten«, arrived through Ripcord Records in September 2023 and earned widespread positive reviews, with Outlaws Of The Sun describing it as “an exciting, bold, brash and quite frankly outstanding slice of post-metal.”

With »Within The Earth«, Helve now enter the next chapter of their evolution: heavier, more atmospheric and more assured in their ability to move between moments of crushing intensity and enveloping soundscapes.

»Within The Earth« was produced and mixed by Helve and mastered at Nave Studios.
