Yorkshire, UK based blackened sludge/doom metal trio Void Maw presents their debut EP, »The Abandoning«, which just dropped on March 18th, 2023.

Three-piece sludge from Yorkshire; the swirling horror of the Universe accentuated with horrendous noise.

Featuring crushing mid-paced riffs, distorted atmospheres, hypnotic slow sections, as well as passages at breakneck velocity, Void Maw’s debut EP takes their amalgamation of influences and channels them into a sound which has been carefully crafted by the band over the past year. All of this has been captured and produced by the formidable Jack Helliwell at DC Studios.

»The Abandoning« sets establishes and introduces the lyrical universe that Void Maw’s songs occupy – the Earth is revealed to be an ancient eldritch entity, awakened due to Mankind’s relentless activity. In response, the planet’s geobiological systems begin to kill off it’s biosphere, releasing an horrendous plague upon its inhabitants. Subsequently, the surviving humans create arkships in a desperate attempt to leave their home in search of new beginnings throughout the cosmos. The artwork, painted on canvas by Ryan Hancock, depicts the climax of this cosmic horror-inspired sci-fi tale.
