UK heavy rock solo project Midnight Whiskey Massacre presents debut album »Overwatch And Control«

Hertfordshire, UK based heavy rock solo project Midnight Whiskey Massacre has just released debut album, titled »Overwatch And Control«.

The man behind Midnight Whiskey Massacre is Darren Ironside, a musician from Hertfordshire, England.

He says about his musical background, “I’ve always been attracted to most guitar orientated music from a young age and first started going to gigs late 90s and seeing bands like Clutch, Monster Magnet, Orange Goblin, High On Fire, Down, Cathedral, Electric Wizard and the like whenever they played, in London mostly.”

Influenced by Motörhead, Sleep, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fu Manchu, Corrosion Of Conformity, Venom and Slayer, he always wanted to start a heavy rock and metal band and put out a heavy record in the style of music that we all know and love and are influenced by.

Darren had always played a bit of electric guitar but has never even written lyrics or done vocals before. »Overwatch And Control« is his first attempt on writting and recording music.

“So the whole process has been a massive learning curve for me personally, having to come up with and record all instruments and vocals and came after the lockdown and was probably inspired by the results and feelings of a post-lockdown world which we all felt and endured and the songs on this album represent those feelings and observations of a changing modern day society, many times for the worst it seems, hence the title »Overwatch And Control«.” he adds.

“At a time of seemingly endless constant wars and suffering and constant financial harassment of working people, it seemed a good time to make a dark heavy doomy but fairly upbeat and positive record representing many people’s anger towards those responsible who run society and the world.”

Midnight Whiskey Massacre is currently a solo project but Darren hopes to be get playing this music live out there in the future and looking for long term band members to join him and help and contribute more to this musical project.
