Kylver (Pronounced: Kil-ver) are a four piece instrumental progressive rock/metal band that have crafted their take on the progressive genre by mixing slow and heavy doom riffs, odd time signatures, atmospherics of post-rock and Hammond tones of the 70’s with a classic rock and metal sound.

The Gobi Desert is the worlds sixth largest desert and one of the most remarkable, with temperatures ranging from 40°C to -40°C, there are some areas of this vast, arid region seeing less than 100 days without frost. These Frozen sands were home to an ancient nomadic tribe known as The Donghu. The Donghu were hunters and warriors, using bows, spears, and traps to survive the harsh conditions of the desert. Animistic and shamanistic elements were a part of The Donghu’s traditions and rituals, often incorporating natural phenomena and mythical creatures into their day to day lives.

One of these beliefs was ‘the spirit of the hunt’, where every animal had a guardian spirit. Killing an animal without showing respect could bring bad luck. Before venturing into the desert, the hunters would perform rituals and leave offerings to pacify dangerous spirits, including mythical creatures.

One of these mythical cryptids, a spirit they could not kill was Allghoi-Khorkhoi, also know as the ‘death worm’. Legends passed down throughout the centuries say that Allghoi-Khorkhoi is an aggressive creature capable of spitting a corrosive acid or venom that can cause instant death. Some stories of the worm also describe it as being able to deliver electric shocks through giant bolts of lightning that fill the air surrounding it.

For cryptid enthusiasts, Allghoi-Khorkhoi remains a subject of intrigue. It’s a symbol of the mystery and untamed nature of the Gobi Desert. Tales of the death worm might have served a practical purpose, keeping hunters cautious when exploring the desert’s deadliest regions.
