Recorded at Axe & Trap Studios in Somerset, UK, »Perceptions From A Dark Earth« captures the band pushing their sound into new territory. Returning to the studio in the summer of 2025, the trio spent six months developing eight tracks that combine sparkling psychedelic melodies, Eastern influences and monstrously heavy stoner and doom riffs.
Across its 44-minute running time, the album moves between hypnotic grooves, expansive psychedelic passages and crushing riff-driven sections. Its instrumental journeys explore themes ranging from organised mind control and acoustic levitation to transcendental interplanetary occultations, creating a record that balances sheer heaviness with a spirit of sonic exploration.
Formed in Bristol in 2022, Motorik Road Trip have built their identity around a fully instrumental approach, drawing on the expansive psychedelia of Monkey3, the relentless riff-driven power of Karma To Burn, the psychedelic intensity of SLIFT and the progressive heaviness of Elder.
Following a series of self-released singles and EPs, the band issued their debut full-length album, »V«, in January 2025. Now, »Perceptions From A Dark Earth« marks their next step, expanding their sonic palette while retaining the hypnotic grooves and heavyweight riffs at the core of their sound.
»Perceptions From A Dark Earth« will be released on November 27, 2026, via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records, on CD and digital.
