The band comment: “A live snake, a twisted tarot reading and mythological metaphors – »The Charm« is the most melodic song we’ve released to date. This song was written about domestic abuse within a broken household, referring to the abuser as a hypnotic snake – the dark themes are contrasted by the atmospheric, psychedelic production and as close to pop as our choruses get.”
El Moono have announced three warm-up shows with a full UK tour to be announced.
Dates are as follows:
Feb 29: Cardiff, The Moon
Mar 01: Nottingham, Chameleon
Mar 02: Luton Castle
The long-awaited debut marks an exciting turn for El Moono toward the darker and more abrasive – a more mature release from a band already marked for greatness.
»The Waking Sun« follows El Moono’s highly-regarded 2022 »Temple Corrupted« EP (released via Lockjaw Records). Previous tours alongside Black Peaks, Haggard Cat, St Pierre Snake Invasion, and Press to MECO elevated El Moono within the new British underground, and the EP release garnered notable praise from Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Guitar World. With influences of rock, hardcore, metal and grunge, the band’s off-kilter and oftentimes mind-bending riffs, emotive songs and expressive lyricism combine to create a sound that’s difficult to pigeonhole.
