UK’s stoner rock force 1968 have announced new album »Royal Bastards« on No Profit Recordings!
UK stoner fuzz band 1968 have announced their third album, »Royal Bastards«, set for release on No Profit Recordings. The album follows their 2021 release, »Salvation, If You Need…«, and will be introduced with the first single, »Endgame« on May 26th.
The most notable change is a much heavier sound compared to the previous album. New release was recorded by long-time collaborator Simon Jones of The Verve, with mixing and mastering by Chris Fielding. This heavier direction comes with renewed energy from Andrew Valiant, formerly of the band Oak, who has taken over vocal duties from former vocalist Jimi Coppack.
»Royal Bastards« will be released on June 19th in digital, cassette, digipak CD, and vinyl formats. The vinyl edition will be available in two versions: 200 copies on black vinyl and 100 copies on 12″ hot pink vinyl.

1968 Biography:
1968 was formed in 2013 by guitarist Sam Orr and vocalist Jimi Coppack, releasing their debut EP in 2015 on Black Bow Records. In 2017, the band released the »Fortuna Havana« EP, which was well-received by the stoner rock community. Following a lineup change, Dan Amati joined in 2017 and the band, together with bassist Bear, began touring the UK.
»Ballads Of The Godless« was self-released in early 2018 after a lengthy dispute with a soured record deal. Following its release, the band embarked on European and American tours up to 2020, including a live show at the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood. This performance was released as a live recording in 2019, titled »For Promotional Use Only«.
During the global pandemic in 2020, the band recorded their second album, »Salvation, If You Need…«, released on No Profit Recordings. In 2023, the band parted ways with Jimi Coppack, who was succeeded by Andrew Valiant (formerly of Oak). The first album with the new lineup, »Royal Bastards«, will be released on No Profit Recordings on June 19th, 2025. The album was recorded by long-time collaborator Simon Jones of The Verve, with mixing and mastering by Chris Fielding. The new record follows the same ethos that 1968 has always stuck to: play loud as fuck.
