About Groucho:
Groucho is Dustin Howard, Royce Buckmaster, and Layne Farmen. With gripping live performances and versatile skill-sets, the three approach the possible limitations of working in a small ensemble as an opportunity to stretch 90s rock, stoner metal, and guitar-heavy music into psychedelic/prog and post-rock atmospheres. Sounding bigger than bands with twice their number, Groucho strives to be a force of nature that shakes audiences out of complacency. Or, at least will show them a real good time.

Their lyrics tackle topics ranging from addiction and recovery to aliens and spirituality. Eduard Banulescu of Alt 77 writes, “Groucho bring their desert-rock fancy in the service of the intergalactic truth,” and places them in the very good company of Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool, Muse, Truckfighters, and Thrice.

After winning the Tulsa World Opening Band Contest for The Hop Jam in 2016, Groucho took a brief hiatus and re-formed in early 2020. At the helm, Emmy-winning writer and producer Dustin Howard was the former guitar player for popular touring bands My Solstice and The Bourgeois. Bassist Layne Farmen fancies himself a rap and metal aficionado, and is (almost) a PhD holder in 20th century literature. He has played in underground bands in the St. Pete FL local scene like Faraday, Oliver & Company, and The Desert Fathers. Royce is a drummer and guitarist who has been writing and performing music since the age of 10. His attention for detail, passion for genre exploration, and versatile song-crafting skill bring a unique energy to the band.

For the upcoming album, Groucho once again worked with Grammy-award winning Trent Bell of Bell Labs in Norman, OK.
