Two years after emerging from Portland’s shadowed corners with their self-titled debut, Mind Prisoner return with their first full-length offering, »The Color Of Ruin«. Once again produced by Scott Elliott (Chernobyl Audio), the album delves deeper into themes of loss, obsession, and the unraveling of identity.
Drawing influence from the melancholia of acts like Fearing, the desolation of NONE, and the raw intensity of Leviathan, Mind Prisoner shape their own distinct realm of post-black metal. »The Color Of Ruin« balances shimmering, gaze-inflected melodies with crushing, blackened-sludge riffs, all anchored by a vocal performance steeped in anguish and desperation. The result is a soundscape as punishing as it is cathartic, an unrelenting exploration of internal collapse.
