Madison, Wisconsin-based atmospheric post-black metal artisans Corridoré are pleased to unveil their video for »Like Moths«. Now playing at Decibel Magazine, the track comes off the band’s new full-length, »Abandon«, set for release on August 22nd via Hypaethral Records.

»Abandon« is a sonically expansive record that traverses everything from atmospheric post-rock passages to crushing walls of distortion. At the heart of the record is a meditation on what it means to let go not only of despair, but of the structures, systems, and personal narratives that perpetuate it. A harrowing and emotionally resonant follow-up to their self-released 2019 debut, »Abandon« delves deep into themes of isolation, grief, and the fragile resilience of the human spirit. With five sprawling tracks that balance beauty and brutality, »Abandon« captures the existential tension of life in a collapsing world refusing to look away but still grasping for something beyond despair.

Comments bassist/vocalist Eric Andraska on »Like Moths«, “I wrote the lyrics to this song thinking about how, like moths, we are drawn towards ‘the light’ no matter how much we fight it. I was stuck in a rut thinking about the past. But I eventually came to the realization that much of that had to be left behind. It’s about the harsh dichotomy of having to go forward with ‘our hearts open wide’ – but also acknowledging that we’ve given up and it is indeed ‘for the last time’.”

Adds Decibel, “Maybe it would have been a little too on-the-nose, but there are no moths in the new video for the track ‘Like Moths.’… There are are however lots of close-up scenes of cowboys getting thrown from bulls, intermingled with live shots of the band performing in what looks like a rehearsal studio. And the song’s quiet piano-based coda is a whole other vibe altogether with images of what look like mannequins in a room filled with elaborate chandeliers. As esoteric as it all seems, the visuals – courtesy of director Jorge Torres Torres (Modest Mouse, Lamb Of God, Imperial Triumphant) – do seem to fit the nine-minute track, which goes from pensive and moody to heavy and sludgy and back to quiet and calm.”

Forged in 2016, Corridoré crafts a sound rooted in the weight and atmosphere of post-metal, filtered through the blistering aggression of black metal and the introspective haze of shoegaze. Drawing comparisons to genre-defying acts like Deafheaven, Falls Of Rauros, Nothing, and Inter Arma, the band uses contrast and dynamic tension to powerful effect moving seamlessly between explosive blast beats, towering tremolo riffs, and moments of stark, melodic stillness.
