Portland, Oregon based blackened doom/post-metal band Felsenmirror featuring members of Usnea and Atriarch presents their self-titled debut album, which was released on January 6th, 2023.

This album stems originally from the mind of Keenan Ondra from early 2020-2021. Later fine tuned and enhanced by the rest of Felsenmirror. This album is an homage to the stages of grief. A reminder of impermanence, healing, growing, loving, and moving beyond that which ails you and oppresses the spirit within.

The band comments: “We are so honoured to share this piece of time that we’ve decorated together with you. Our aim as a group of friends, is to experience the power that music/art has to its fullest. Some of us struggle with mental health, and just feeling ok in this absolutely insane world. This album was created during a time of great emotional, and mental pain. A turning of tides. A time to reflect on how the last 6 years just slipped away from you but it was all part of self discovery. Pain is a welcomer of creativity. Our s/t is sort of an ode to the stages of grief, each song being loosely based on different stages. Denial, anger, depression, and eventually letting go.

This album was originally constructed by our drummer Keenan over 2020-2021. In January of 2022 Brooke and Keenan began practicing these songs. 2 months later Zeke, and Josh joined and together we helped craft this album to the best of our abilities. And we were even lucky enough to feature the ever so talented Andrea Morgan on violin on 2 songs. It was recorded in October of 2022, and produced by Zeke in SW Portland and mastered by Adam Gonsalvez at Telegraph Audio.
