»The Light That Keeps Us«, the new full-length from Indianapolis death/doom metal alchemists, Mother Of Graves, is streaming in its stirring entirety. The premiere comes on the eve of the record’s official unveiling on Friday, October 16th via Profound Lore Records.

Driven by the sharpened songwriting of guitarists Chris Morrison and Ben Sandman, the unrelenting foundation of bassist Corey Clark and drummer Don Curtis, and the expressive, poetic cadence of vocalist/keyboardist Brandon Howe, »The Light That Keeps Us« is crushing, hauntingly human, and a true showcase of the band’s authenticity in their expression and care for the genre with each track serving as a hand to guide the listener through the introspective journey of mortality, sorrow, love and resilience.

Mother Of Graves seamlessly fuses the aggression and power of death metal with the melancholic and romantic edge of melodic doom. The follow-up to their critically revered sophomore offering, »The Periapt Of Absence«, which claimed a #11 spot on Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 AOTY and tore through countless year-end lists, »The Light That Keeps Us« confirms that Mother Of Graves has no intention of slowing their evolution into fully realized territory as a quintet. The band’s dynamic continues to grow under the production of guitarist Ben Sandman, whose work behind the console keeps personal touch prevalent within their music, stripping away excess and amplifying the things that matter.

It has become a standard throughout their years to recruit legend Dan Swanö for his mastering expertise, but this time a greater gift presented itself as Swanö proudly delivered guest vocals on the track »Wingless Soul«. A full circle moment in the band’s existence, as it gives the album that much more of a special and significant engraving within the world of death doom.

With »The Light That Keeps Us«, Mother Of Graves delivers eight tracks of despairing beauty laced in emotion and fierce purpose, marking yet another milestone in their promising career.

»The Light That Keeps Us« will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats.

“…a swirling miasma of big-R Romantic doom metal that’s as sonically adventurous as it is perversely catchy.” – Decibel Magazine

“Hauntingly mournful. A perfect album for autumn and the sort of record that would inspire wistful tales of love loss, brighter days tinged with sorrow but likewise despair kindled with hope. It ebbs and flows and takes as much influence from gothic feeling as it does from out and out death and doom metal. Mother Of Graves has delivered another powerful record to their existing catalogue that fits their direction and DNA faultlessly.” – Distorted Sound

“…a compelling melodic death-doom record with a distinctive touch and a particularly well-executed finale.” – Metal.de

“…an absolute gem. Beautifully emotive from start to finish, this is an album that will just keep on giving.” – SoundScape Magazine

“»The Light That Keeps Us« packs a hefty punch in both the glum atmosphere and the compelling dynamics that are so potent in every facet. A release from a band growing in confidence and poise, daring their peers to keep up.” – Dead Rhetoric

“…a very emotional listening experience, and the music has a way of pulling you in so that you are immersed in its woe. Not every story has a happy ending, but to me, this feels like a tale of resilience.” – Metal Temple

“»The Light That Keeps Us« reeks of classic ‘90s quality, while also achieving the seemingly impossible feat of being its own master too. How the band have achieved this is anyone’s guess, but one can only assume dark pacts with unholy gods, or something. Either way, »The Light That Keeps Us« is a stunner. Essential listening.” – Wonderbox Metal

“…a relatively young band still not yet at the height of their powers. Yet again, they surpass the bar raised for themselves and the expectations of their fans… I’m pretty sure their next album will take over the world.” – Doomed For Metal

“…the best doom metal record I have heard in nearly three decades. Mirroring the dismal death of My Dying Bride, and the melodic dissonance of Paradise Lost, this record is their strongest and most versatile to date!” – Metal Epidemic

“Mother Of Graves continues to impress with their emotive compositions and incredible performances… Mother Of Graves writes music that’s comforting in its familiarity yet rewarding in its depth. It wouldn’t surprise me if this ends up on many year-end lists…” — Angry Metal Guy
